Sea Serpent Slithers back to Coniston

Published : 15 Mar 2016 Last update : 18 Mar 2016

We are pleased to announce that our newly recarved sea serpent figurehead affectionately known as Sid, has been returned to Coniston by Peter Hall & Son and is once again sitting proudly on the bow awaiting the first passengers of the season on 25th March.

The story of Sid's transformation

We're still fundraising for Sid - can you help?

Thanks to the generosity of our many Gondola friends, our initial fundraising round to finance the new Sidney was very successful.  We can't thank you enough for your contributions. It has been really heartwarming to see how much Gondola means to so many people.

We are now having a second round of fundraising to try to make up the shortfall.

Donations can be made by completing a Sidney Donations Form (PDF / 0.0478515625MB) download

Or you can donate by text - please text GOND15 £5 to 70070 to donate £5. If you would like to donate a different amount simply replace the ‘£5’ with the figure you wish to donate - £1, £2, £10, £20, etc.

Or you can donate by calling our membership number, 0344 800 1895, but be sure to state that your donation is for Steam Yacht Gondola's Sidney Appeal.

[National Trust Registered Charity Number 205846. 100% of your donation will go towards the replacement of Sidney the Sea Serpent. Please obtain the bill payer’s permission. NT Supporter Services Centre 0344 800 1895.]

If you would like to speak to someone to find out more before making a donation, call Liz Guest (National Trust Lake District Fundraising Co-ordinator) on 015394 63806.
