Christmas at Nymans
This event finished in 2017. Take a festive walk through the winter garden to the gallery, where this Christmas you'll find a nostalgic exhibition of vintage artwork from children's literature.
Exhibition - Sing a Song for Sixpence
Saturday 2 December - Tuesday 2 January 11am – 3.30pm
Join us in the gallery this Christmas, as we celebrate Maud and Leonard Messel’s tradition of giving books to local children at Christmas time. Inspired by the beautiful artwork in the Messel family's collection of children's literature, we'll be taking a nostalgic look at nursery rhymes in our exhibition, 'Sing a Song for Sixpence'.
We've handpicked some of the most interesting books from the Nymans archive to display in the gallery and will be delving into their sometimes surprising histories and backgrounds. The exhibition will feature traditional examples from the Victorian heyday of illustrated rhymes as well as some modern interpretations. There'll also be a cosy story space for our younger visitors.
