An exhibition of beautiful photographs taken in the garden at Overbeck's. The winning photo 'Bamboo' was picked from over 100 entries.
Overbeck’s Garden Photographer of the year exhibition
We would love to share the beautiful photographs taken as part of the competition held in 2016. The competition asked that the photographers explore the garden and send their entries to us.
There were two themes: The Beauty of Plants and The Secret Life of a Garden with three age categories – under 10, 10 to 16 and 16 and over.
The overall winner was chosen from the 16 & over category : ‘Bamboo’ by Scott Macintyre of the Isle of Wight who visited in July. Scott received a Panasonic camera and a £10 National Trust voucher as his prize.
The competition was judged by Philip Smith, the founder of the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition. Philip is a trained photographer who regularly has work published in gardening magazines, books and newspapers.
We asked him to give us his comment on the winning photo and replied “A superb shot with a dramatic composition well suited to the subject. The gleaming surfaces of the plants are very accurately exposed”.
We hope you enjoy the exhibition Watch out for the photography competition coming in 2017.
