Summer holidays at Penrhyn Castle
As the summer holidays approach, there’s plenty to look forward to at Penrhyn Castle.
16 July - 29 Awst 2022
This summer it's all about getting out into the great outdoors and having fun in nature at Penrhyn Castle and Garden - the perfect wide open space to skip, jump and play your way to a great day out.
Come out and play
Collect your challenge card from the Visitor Welcome Centre and discover which games are in the garden. Whether you’re rolling down hills, trying to keep your balance or finding your way along paths, we have plenty of activities to help you make the most of those long summer days.
Tennis on the Lawn (Thursdays only)
Did you know there was a real tennis lawn in Penrhyn Castle during the Victorian era?
Using this history as inspiration, come and play tennis every Thursday on the lawn. Learn new tennis skills or try and complete some special tennis tasks.
Escape to our meadows
Fancy a casual day in our beautiful gardens or all tired out after a day of exploring? Escape to our meadows and find the picnic spots among the wildlife. Several spots have been mown so you can immerse yourselves in the meadows.
Or why not relax amongst the flowers and dragonflies in the Walled Garden or take a stroll under the incredible Fuchsia Arch - which blooms all though the summer and is a favourite spot for our Penrhyn bees!
Top Tip: Don't miss the chance for an Instagram worthy iconic image from one of the benches at either end! Remember to share your snaps with us!
Follow the path - the further you go, the more you'll discover!
For those who prefer a longer walk, why not pop down to Cwt Ogwen hide and wild nature play area? From there you can also stroll along the new boardwalk that runs along Afon Ogwen, with incredible views trowards Bethesda and Y Carneddau mountains.
