Meet our Run Leaders: Dean Horrell

Run Leader, Penrhyn Castle

Dean Horrell - Run Leader

Meet Dean Horrell, one of our trained Run Leaders. Dean will be leading our Beginners Running Groups in 2016 and in order to get to know him a little better before we start, we gave him a light grilling!

Tell us a little about Dean...

I started running at my local Parkrun over 2 years ago and have never looked back. Since then I have run multiple half marathons and ultra marathons. I'm currently studying Sport Science and Outdoor education at Bangor university, due to this it is very rare to find me inside because if I'm not running I’ll either be up a rock face in the mountains or paddling down a waterfall.

Why did you decide to volunteer as Run Leader?

I've always enjoyed running and encouraging people to take up running. The simplistic nature of running makes it so accessible and easy to do. By becoming a Run Leader I look forward to sharing my passion for the sport and hope to get more people as hooked as I am to getting outdoors and running.

Favourite place to run?

Running somewhere in which you are clueless as to where you are and completely lost, preferably downhill.

Do you have a running related ambition?

Trying to run over 100 miles in a 24 hour ultra marathon, because why not! As well as trying to get out running in the mountains as much as possible while I still can.

Post run…Coffee and cake or tea and biscuits?

Neither, can't beat a post run ice lolly.

What’s under your bed?

The complete opposite of Emma (another Run Leader), I'm a student and everything I own hides under my bed!

Now that you know a little more about Dean you can join him and get fit in 2016 at our Beginners Runnig Group.
