Family fun at Petworth this half term
Have a memorable day at Petworth with your family this half term. Children can make a mini landscape or recycled bird box, complete our Shakespeare inspired trail or take up the 50 Things challenge, while you relax in the grounds and catch up over lunch, or dip into one of our exhibitions.
Children can design their own miniature landscape and make a birdhouse
Activities will include creating a recycled bird box or animal shelter, and adding your own woodland characters to go inside. Inspired by the ancient trees, have a go at leaf rubbings and printing on paper to make beautiful patterns and turn into a beautiful greeting card.
Take part in creating our huge Petworth Park collage to celebrate the great landscape designer Capability Brown.
This is a family activity, all parents, grandparents and guardians must stay with the children for health and safety reasons.
Morning and afternoon sessions on:
2nd June 11-12:30pm and 2-3:30pm
3rd June 11-12:30pm and 2-3:30pm
Workshop £6, please book in advance online or by calling our box office on: 0844 249 1895. This will give you access to the Pleasure Grounds, Shop, Cafe and Coffee Shop. You will be asked to pay normal admission if you wish to enter the mansion.
Take part in our Shakespeare inspired trail
Collect a scroll and follow the trail of William Shakespeare and his characters around the mansion at Petworth House & Park. Become a playwright and create your own script as you hunt for characters from Shakespeare’s famous plays that are hiding in our paintings.
Will all of your troupe make it to the end of the play or will some of them meet challenges along the way? As the playwright you decide the fate of your actors as you journey around the mansion. Will you make your audience laugh by writing a comedy or will you make them cry by writing a tragedy?
Discover the paintings at Petworth that have been inspired by the plays of Shakespeare and commemorate Britain’s most famous playwright with our fun interactive trail.
Available from Saturday 28th May then throughout the 2016 season. Not included in entry fee, voluntary donation £2. Every penny Petworth receives goes to the care and conservation of the collection for future generations to enjoy.
