The 2015 festive season is already just around the corner and the good news is that there are plenty of ways to celebrate with us. Enjoy illuminated gardens, carol concerts, traditional decorations and of course, meet Father Christmas in his grotto.

Step back in time and enjoy a fabulously festive Christmas with us. 

See the castle decked out in all the splendour of a traditional Edwardian family Christmas* and discover more about the Herbert family’s seasonal traditions, including the Christmas day shooting party, the estate workers' Boxing Day celebrations and the pulling of a gigantic cracker.

There will be plenty to keep children occupied too, including craft activities and an exciting trail around the castle and garden.

Father Christmas’ grotto

Everyone has fond childhood memories of meeting Father Christmas for the very first time. Bring your family along and meet Father Christmas in the spectacular setting of our ballroom.
Your children will be able to visit his magical grotto every Saturday and Sunday from 28 November to 20 December, 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 3.30pm. Visits to Father Christmas cost £4 per child and each will receive an early Christmas gift.

Festive fine foods

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, we’ve just the event for you. Join us on 20 November, 7pm, for our Christmas pudding evening. 
Bring along your family and friends to enjoy a light main course followed by six delicious festive desserts. You will score each dessert and we’ll reveal the winner at the end of the evening - which will be your favourite? £24.95 per person, booking is essential (01938) 551927.

Illuminated Gardens

Brighten up those dark winter nights with a stroll around our spectacularly lit formal gardens, terraces and courtyard. The Castle*, Courtyard Restaurant, Gift Shop and Christmas Shop will also be open until 8pm. 
See this event on 27-29 November, 4-6 & 11-13 December, 5-8:30pm (last entry to castle & garden 7:30pm). Admission prices apply. Please note that for safety reasons, the gardens will be closed between 4pm-5pm. 

Eat, drink and be merry

Take a relaxing break between activities and sit down to sample the delicious festive fare in our restaurant.  Open daily from 10am-4pm, we’ll be serving a delicious selection of main meals, light bites, cakes and drinks.
Looking for somewhere to hold your Christmas party? Our Courtyard Restaurant welcomes parties large and small to enjoy a delicious festive feast. 1 course lunch - £12.95, 2 course lunch - £18.95, 3 course lunch - £24.85. Booking is essential - (01938) 551927.

Shop ‘til you drop

Skip the hectic high street and wrap up your gift buying in our two shops. Both are free to enter and have something for everyone. 
The Courtyard Gift Shop will be selling various local products and National Trust gifts, whilst our Christmas shop will be selling everything you need for a magical Christmas.

Don’t forget, from 23 November onwards, you can support our conservation work for the coming year by purchasing a stunning Christmas tree from us. 

Carol concert

There are few better ways to get into a festive mood than singing carols. Join us on Saturday 12 December as we welcome back the Chester St Cecilia Singers for their annual Christmas Carol Concert. 
This will take place in the glorious setting of our Ballroom at 7pm. Booking is essential and tickets cost £9 for adults and £4.50 for children.
