Celebrate World Book Day at Quarry Bank

Berlie Doherty's 'Far From Home' in the Quarry Bank shop

On Saturday 4 March, get dressed up as your favourite fictional character and head down to Quarry Bank to celebrate World Book Day.

Join in with our interactive family guided tour of Quarry Bank, inspired by Berlie Doherty's 'Far From Home'. Families can discover the story of two apprentice girls working in a mill just like Quarry Bank, and find out what happened to them as they worked on the dangerous mill machinery. Sign your indenture to become an apprentice and set off to explore the mill and Apprentice House, led by a tour guide. Make sure you bring your World Book Day token with you, and pick up a copy of 'Far From Home' from the Quarry Bank shop. Tours are available from 11am - 3.30pm.

You can also get involved in our other word-inspired events, including a TEXTile workshop with Quarry Bank's poet in residence Kate Fox. Have a go at some weaving activities while Kate weaves words into poetry, from 2 - 4pm.

All activities are included in the Quarry Bank admission price.
