Gin and Gingerbread

Gin and greenery in the fireplace

PAST EVENT: In 2016 we invited visitors to explore Rainham Hall in all its festive glory and discover how homes were decorated for Christmas three-hundred years ago.

In 2016 we hosted a Christmas event in partnership with Jensen's Gin (read all about it below). This was a PAST EVENT. Visit our homepage to find out what we're currently up to.

Nestled in the Bermondsey railway arches, an area steeped in eighteenth century maritime history, you will find an amazing gin distillery. Jensen’s Gin use traditional botanicals to recreate recipes used and loved for hundreds of years. Experts from the distillery joined us at Rainham Hall to share thier knowledge and their delicous creations.

There were no Christmas trees in the early eighteenth century but the Georgians loved to bring the outdoors in. Boughs of holly, ivy and rosemary would have adorned the windows of Rainham Hall during John Harle’s lifetime, and did so again in 2016.
