Kids Activities at Rowallane Garden
Discover Rowallane Garden’s play areas designed especially for children and families to enjoy.
Explore and Play
The Explore and Play area has been made using completely natural materials. Fallen trees have been reimagined as climbing frames, activity dens are made from branches from the garden and stepping stones are inventively fashioned from cut stumps and logs. Intricate chainsaw sculptures depicting exotic animals reinforce the link to our Plant Hunters Passport.
Our aim was to create an interactive environment that feels like part of the landscape providing a pathway to a deeper connection with nature. We hope it encourages you to look up and around, admire the views, engage with your senses and appreciate being outdoors.
Little Lions Den
A nod to the Lion's that guard the entrance to Rowallane Garden, the Little Lion's Den is Rowallane's newest kid freidnly feature. Located in the Stable yard, this indoor space is the perfect spot for little adventures to explore. Next to the second-hand bookshop, which is stocked with kids books, its a cosy nook where learning through play and storytelling can take place.
Balance Bikes are the perfect way to help your future cyclists learn how to ride in the safety of the great outdoors. Cycling is an important life skill and a healthy way to explore outdoors. We want to help the next generation’s cyclists learn to ride, starting their lifelong love of cycling in beautiful natural surroundings. That's why we are delighted to offer free-to-hire balance bikes to our visitors.
The balance bikes and helmets are available to hire from Visitor Reception. You don’t need to book anything, and the balance bikes are free to use - just turn up and get going!
There are plenty of paths to follow through the gardens and the wide open spaces of Rowallane Garden making it the perfect trining ground.
