Rowallane Gardens Secondhand Bookshop

Rowallane Gardens Secondhand Bookshop

You'll find the secondhand bookshop at Rowallane Garden, tucked away in the corner of the Stableyard. It's a great place to while away a some time during a visit. Delve into shelves of books to discover a world of preloved stories and non-fiction for all ages. We have a large selection of fiction and a wide variety of non-fiction including cookery, gardening, history, travel and much more. We also have a lovely children’s corner.

Our fundraising secondhand bookshop

Take some time to browse the shelves, all carefully arranged into categories, to find something of interest. If you're an avid reader of books, there's bound to be something to catch your eye.

All monies from the sale of books in the bookshop will go towards our conservation projects. Conserving a 14th-century moated castle is no mean feate and there are a number of areas that need conservation from our artefacts to the castle building itself and the grounds in which it sits.

Donate your old books or buy a book to take home

There are several ways in which you can support our secondhand bookshop. Firstly without the donation of books; paperbacks, hardbacks, fiction, non-fiction and children's we wouldn't be able to keep going. We're particularly interested in books on castles and medieval life since this is what we're all about here at the castle.

The books are simply priced and generally our suggested donation is £1 for paperbacks and £2 for a hardback. In line with government guidance you are required to wear a face covering in the bookshop, please bring one with you. Pop in and see what bargains you can pick up.

If you'd like to donate some books, please give our main office a call on 02897 510 131 or email rowallane@nationaltrust.org.uk to arrange to drop them off or you can bring them with you on your next wisit to Rowallane Garden. If there is no one in the bookshop, please speak to another member of staff in the Visitor Centre who will be happy to take your donation.
