Half term adventures
This half term we're taking inspiration from Monty, the Fifth Earl of Morley and heading out on an adventure. We'll be on mini beast safaris, making dens, digging for treasure and discovering what beasts lie within the pond.
50 things, bug hunts, den designs and more
There’s nothing better than getting out with the kids, packing a picnic and ticking off some 50 things. Our Rangers and Gardeners will be Bug Hunting on Tuesday 31st May, building your dream ‘den’ with Den Building on Wednesday 1st June and Pond Dipping on Thursday 2nd June all 1-4pm.
Get your free ‘50 things to do before you are 11 ¾’ scrapbook at the Welcome Centre. On days where we haven’t got an event, why not create your own self-led adventure and see if you can tick off any of your ‘50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾’ activities.
Destination: Saltram trail
Pick up the ‘Destination Saltram trail’ at the Welcome Centre and use the special magnifying glass to crack the clues and solve the puzzle in the house and garden. When you have finished return your magnifying glass to claim your certificate of graduation from archaeology school. Suitable fro ages 3 and up.
Raiders of the lost garden
Our very own Monty, the 5th Earl of Morley was somewhat of an archaeological explorer. As part of our family event ‘Raiders of the Lost Garden’ pick up a trowel and have a go at finding some treasures for yourself in the garden.
Fuelling the adventure
The Park Café sells snacks and family friendly lunches, or teach your children proper tea is taken the old fashioned way in the Chapel Tea-room. Or bring a picnic and dine out on the lawn and if the weather takes a turn for the worse set up camp in the Orangery. Let’s not forget the ice cream come rain or shine in the Park Café.
