Cadbury Egg Hunt

Friday 14 to Monday 17 April, 10am-4pm

Badger and Pepper are the dogs of Arthur Hussey and they have been up to all sorts of fun in the garden. This time they have startled the Easter bunny as he was hiding some eggs. He has dropped a number of items around the garden and could really do with your help to find them all. Using your map of the garden see if you can find all the objects, to claim your delicious Cadbury chocolate prize.

A Castle in England trail

Monday 3 to Thursday 13 April

Our writer in residence Jamie Rhodes is celebrating the release of his book, inspired by the collection here at Scotney Castle. Over the Easter holidays we will be joining the celebration with an exhibition of his work in the house and a children's trail in the garden.

What else can I see and do?

Once you have finished either of our trails there is always the new Badger and Pepper play area to visit in the garden. Try out our tree swing, play on our wooden drum kit or set up camp in the play house. For the more adventurous there is always wilderness camp, den building and natural play trail.

Ask at reception for one of our '50 things to do before you are 11 3/4's explorer maps and start ticking off your list of fun activities to do outdoors.

Visiting during Easter

Scotney Castle can get very busy during the Easter holidays, particularly over the bank holiday weekend. Weather permitting, we will provide additional parking on our estate. Please be aware this is a 10 minute walk from our visitor reception, if you are visiting with small children or will struggle to make the walk please let the car park team know when you arrive.

Feeling peckish?

Before you head out on a trail, fill up in our tearoom on snacks, hot drinks and ice cream. Hot food is served between 12 and 2:30pm, but light snacks and sandwiches are available all day. Our ice cream kiosk will also be open, weather permitting throughout the holidays. We do allowing picnicking throughout the site, our recommendation for the best picnic spot is on the lawn at the front of the house. It makes the perfect combination of a stunning view and not too far to carry your picnic bag back to the car before you explore the garden.

Souvenirs of your day

Visit our gift shop for something to remind you of your day at Scotney Castle. We also have a second hand bookshop in the castle, so don't miss the opportunity to pick up your next great read.
