Take a guided tour around Shute Barton

Open days at Shute Barton take place just four weekends each year. The dates for 2020 are:

16 & 17 May, 20 & 21 June, 17 & 18 October and 14 & 15 November

Learn about the fascinating history of Shute with guided tours available on these days starting from 10.30am. They depart every 15 minutes throughout the day and last for approximately 45 minutes, with the last tour departing at 3.45pm.

There's no need to book in advance, just arrive on the day and join our guides. Please note that we can only accept cash as we don't have card facilities. Sorry no large groups.

The tour includes the medieval highlights as well as the remodelled luxurious holiday rooms. Follow in the footsteps of the Bonvilles and later the Pole family, sharing the highs and lows of their lives. The visit finishes in the pretty garden, which are free to wander and enjoy in your own time.

St Michael’s Church next door is worth a visit. On weekends when the house is open, they sell delicious cream teas with all the proceeds going to the church.
