Autumn at Sissinghurst Castle Garden
Autumn brings a change of pace at Sissinghurst. With softer sounds and daily changing colour around the estate, it's a more peaceful time of year. There's still lots to see and do while you're here this autumn though, with changing exhibitions in the oast house, vibrant colour in the garden and walks around the estate.
The garden stays open until the end of October and there's still lots to see throughout. The cottage garden has a vibrant pallette of fiery reds and golden yellows creating an autumnal scene. The trees in the orchard are full with fruit, and there's a bright smattering of colour in the other garden rooms too.
The estate is a great place to be during the autumn months. There's wildlife in abundance from cows in the fields to smaller critters hiding in the woodlands. However it's not only wildlife that flourish at this time of year but also the woodland itself. The trees make for a canopy of yellows, browns and reds which add an extra special touch to our estate walks. In the wider estate our tenant farmer is hard at work harvesting the fields which makes for a great view across the low wealden landscape.
While you're visiting us head over to reception and grab an estate walks leaflet which will help guide you around the walks that we have here, short and long walks are both available and marked out on the maps, make sure to bring your wellies with you.
