Greenwood Fair at Sizergh in the Lake District, Saturday 23 September, 10am – 4pm

Cutting logs at Sizergh

Saturday 23 September, 10am – 4pm. Sizergh estate has over 150ha of semi-natural ancient woodland. This all needs looking after. Our team of rangers spend a lot of time in the winter months, in the woods, actively managing the trees to enhance habitats for a wide array of species, including rare birds and butterflies. This is also to help maintain safe public access.

Our Greenwood Fair is basically ‘all things woodland’ - sharing the amazing things that happen in our woodlands as part of our ongoing management, and how we use the products of this to make useful (and also very pretty) things.

On the day, you’ll be able to have a go at pole-lathe turning, gypsy flower making and hazel hurdle weaving. If you want to take a back seat, watch one of the different demonstrations, or take a guided walk around the estate with one of our expert rangers.

We’ll also have a range of wood themed souvenirs and different produce stalls here, including; baskets, turned bowls, carved wood and furniture.
