Step into summer at Sizergh

Sizergh in summer a perfect place to explore

Summer is all about exploring, so come along and enjoy rambles around the Sizergh estate, and breath in fresh air with a refreshing walk around the Sizergh garden. After this why not treat yourself to healthy light bites in the Sizergh café, a perfect way to enjoy guilt free eating pleasure during the summer season!

Getting out and about

The estate offers plenty of options for walks, runs or cycle rides.

With free Monday guided walks around the Sizergh parkland at 11.30am and 1.30pm and seasonal gardens walks on the 1st Sunday of every month at 11am and 1.30pm, there's plenty to explore.

Some self-led walk highlights include the route along the river Kent, with the dramatic old gunpowder works, or the walk to Sizergh Fell, which in the autumn provides the ideal viewpoint from where to admire the beautiful woodland colours and the snow-covered Lakeland fells.

For a chance to spot a deer, the stroll to Brigsteer Woods is perfect. The wild play trail at Sizergh gives children an excuse to explore and play in the woods.

With a great variety of things to do and enjoy, and many tales to tell, Sizergh is just waiting to be discovered!

A family home

With more than 700 years of history and centuries-old portraits sitting alongside modern family photographs, this medieval house certainly feels lived in; indeed it's still home to the Strickland family.

It's surrounded by rich gardens including a limestone rock garden, where colours change with the passing of the seasons; its timeless atmosphere makes this the perfect place to relax.

The house is now open 6 days 12-4pm until 29 October, closed on Mondays.
