World Book weekend 2018

A woman and two young children read a story book

Young readers are invited to join characters from much loved books at our World Book weekend on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 March (postponed from 3 and 4 March due to bad weather).

In honour of World Book Day, children of all ages can listen and join in as popular storybook characters read aloud. Creative crafts and a book themed trail will provide hands-on fun and everyone taking part is encouraged to come dressed as someone – or something - from their favourite book.

" We’re thrilled to be celebrating World Book Day again this year with a whole weekend of activities. It’s so important to nurture a love of books and allow children’s imagination to thrive from a young age. We want to inspire that sense of magic and wonder. Families can discover stories and characters together as well as revisiting old favourites. "
- Vicki Johnson, Visitor Welcome Manager, Souter Lighthouse and The Leas
