Regular visitor to Stackpole
Meet Clare Harris, a regular visitor to Stackpole who enjoys keeping fit in the great outdoors. Here, she shares what she loves most about the estate; from dog-friendly runs to mountain biking trails.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Mum of two who loves to run and cycle in pursuit of cake! 2015 Welsh archery champion who discovered a love for running while training. Love of the outdoors with my faithful training partner, my beagle Monty. Training for Vmlm2016.
What is it about our activities that you enjoy?
There's something for everyone, from Easter egg trails for my six and seven year old boys to quiet woodland walks watching the wildlife around the lily ponds to running around the fantastic Pembrokeshire coastline with views that cannot be beaten anywhere in the world. Woodland mountain bike trails and a regular place for me to hack my horse. Also a dog friendly place where my beagle can run!
What is it about the great outdoors that motivates you?
No two days are the same, the variety of scenery around Stackpole coastline, so many different paths and routes and the wildlife. There's nothing more rewarding than reaching the top of the steps at Barafundle Bay, listening to the waves, it's simple breathtaking.
Sum up your NT active experience in three words.
Welcoming, fun, rewarding.
What would you say to others to encourage them to get active outdoors?
Personally of me, the Stackpole Estate offers a perfect place to enjoy a range of activities. Leisurely walks through the Stackpole Estate and the family-friendly paths around the lily ponds (where else do you get toad crossing signs) to beautiful Broadhaven South beach.
Stick your walking shoes or trainers on and take the paths around the headlands and explore Barafundle Bay, Stackpole Quay (I must try the kayaking) along to Freshwater East stopping along the way to take in the stunning views, don't forget the cake!
