Summer at Standen
Summer is the best time to explore the garden at Standen and there is plenty to see and do with garden trails, woodland walks, exhibitions in the House and activities throughout the school holidays.
In the house
Delve into the pioneering story of Standen resident Helen Beale in our current exhbition, Helen Beale - Never at Sea or visit one of our selling exhibitions from local artists, guilds and more. There will be opportunities to talk to the artists, discover more about their craft and purchase their work.
In the garden
The garden blooms in summer with summer flowering trees & shrubs, nectar rich plants and shades of red in the borders. Discover the quarry garden, smell the roses and taste fresh produce from the kitchen garden in Barn Café.
Explore the woodland
Download a woodland walk before your visit or pick up a Tree Trail when you arrive and explore the woodland and wider estate. For those more experienced walkers, we have plenty of longer walks available from Visitor Reception. If the sun is shining, why not pack a picnic to enjoy in our picnic area or pick up an ice-cream from the café to enjoy in the garden.
Summer holiday family fun
Throughout the school summer holidays the whole family can join in activities. Get creative with a hands-on craft activity; play with our outdoor toys or have a game of croquet; win a prize with a nautical themed trail around the garden; build a den in the Plantation; explore the garden with our Garden Revival Rubbings Trail or try our indoor spotting trail.
