Festive story-telling in our Woodland Grotto

This Christmas our younger visitors can join one of our story telling sessions in our Woodland Grotto. After a walk through the wintery garden, settle down in the grotto and enjoy a Christmas story and after meet Woodland Santa himself and receive a small present and a cup of hot chocolate. £9 per child includes small toy. Normal admission applies. Please note some areas are muddy, please bring suitable footwear.

Discover the Winter Tree 

Sat 23 Nov 2019 – Sun 5 Jan, 10am-4pm

As part of Standen’s Christmas celebrations, see the decorated tree in the courtyard by designers NEON alongside 1930s traditionally decorated Christmas trees throughout the house.

NEON are creating a spectacle for the senses in the form of a musical tree that will harness nature to create a magical noise through the garden. Normal admission applies, no booking required.

Explore Standen after dark and see the House lit up for Christmas

Sat & Sun 23, 24 & 30 Nov & 1, 7, 8 Dec, & daily from Sat 14 Dec – Mon 23 Dec (closed 24 & 25 Dec)

Last entry 5:30pm, house closes 6pm, property closes 6:30pm

On our twilight evenings, Standen will remain open until 6:30pm so you can explore the house after dark to see the Beale's home completely transformed for Christmas. See the Christmas trees lit up and twinkling for a truly magical and festive experience. Normal admission applies, no booking required.

Barking Boxing Day – Bring your dog in festive finery

Thu 26 Dec, 10:30am-12pm

The Beales loved to involve their dogs in the festivities so we are keeping this tradition going at Standen this Boxing Day. Get all the family involved and join in our Barking Boxing Day walk. All dogs wearing a festive costume or accessory get a treat, and the best dressed pooch will be awarded a prize at the end of the walk.

No booking required (normal admission applies). Dogs on leads. Meet at Goose Green.

Wintery woodland walks

Need to burn off some energy? Get outdoors and closer to nature and explore Hollybush and Rockinghill Woods, or perhaps take a short walk towards Weir Wood Reservoir. Pick up a 50p walk leaflet from visitor reception or download a trail below. Dogs are welcome too.
