Autumn at Standen

There is so much to see and do at Standen this autumn. Take a walk through the woods and crunch the autumn leaves, or try out a trail. You could even take part in our photography workshop. The cafe is open all year round with autumnal bites, so even if the weather's not on your side you can enjoy a treat or two.

Autumn Harvest 

See the fruits of the Kitchen Garden’s harvest this autumn with tastings, demonstrations and a Day in the Life weekend. Saturday 30 September to Sunday 29 Oct, 11am-4pm.

October half-term holiday fun 

Keep the kids occupied this half term with apple tastings, autumn trails, and strolls through crunchy leaves. Open daily from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October.

Standen Collection Wallpaper

The Standen Collection 

Designers Peter Thwaites and Rebecca Aird have been commissioned to create a collection of modern hand-printed fabrics and wallpapers for Standen, using inspiration gathered by visitors, volunteers and staff. See their designs in our newly opened Servants' Wing until Friday 27 April 2018. Free, normal admission applies.

Spooky bat walks

Join us for a bat-themed walk through the woodland here at Standen house and garden. Our ranger will guide you on a walk through the woods where we will look for bats using bat detectors. Warm up afterwards with hot chocolate and a spooky biscuit. Wednesday 1, Thursday 2 & Friday 3 November, 5-6.30pm. Booking essential on 03142 323029.

Autumn colour photogaphy workshop

Calling all budding photographers! This outdoor photography workshop, led by Roger Bloxham, is a perfect opportunity to learn how to capture the beautiful autumn colour in Standen's garden. Thursday 12 & Wednesday 18 October, 8am-3pm. £45pp booking essential.

Designer Will Shannon uses Arts & Crafts principles of using local materials and traditional handcrafted skills to make 'Bothy'. Stop for a while as you walk round the garden to discover this small folly like space.

Discover the woodlands and estate or explore further afield on one of our self-guided walking trails at Standen. Look out for Exmoor ponies and wildlife along the way.
