Gondola crowned Cumbria Visitor Attraction of the Year

Gondola team awarded Cumbria Visitor Attraction of the Year

We are very proud to announce that Steam Yacht Gondola was crowned Visitor Attraction of the Year at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2016.

A glittering night at the Cumbria Tourism Awards ceremony, saw the team of Steam Yacht Gondola walk away with the gong for Visitor Attraction of the Year, sponsored by H & H Reeds Printers.

Bill King, Gondola Operations Manager says 'the whole crew were thrilled to find out that we had won our category and I think it’s a fair recognition of all the work they put in through the season to keep the boat in first class condition for our visitors. It’s been wonderful to see all the messages of congratulations from so many people'.

National Trust teams were well represented at the Awards Ceremony which took place on 22 June. Finalists included Great Langdale Campsite in the Holiday Parks category, Wray Castle for Large Visitor Attraction and the newly opened Claife Viewing Station for New Tourism Business.

The win means that Gondola will go forward to the VisitBritain 2017 awards, pending confirmation of the categories which are to be announced later this year.

Gondola's award designed by local award-winning metalwork sculptor Chris Brammall, is already taking pride of place in the plush first class saloon. Come and see it for yourself and meet our very chuffed team - we are sailing this season until 30 October.
