We’re serving up something a little different at Sticklebarn in Langdale - super tasty, planet friendly food and drinks, all in the name of a great cause – looking after the Lakes.
We love Cumbria’s food Heritage and we have some amazing local produce, not least the Herdwick sheep that roam our fells. All of our meat comes from our local award winning butcher Higginsons of Grange; our Herdwicks roam our fells near Grasmere, our Venison is from National Trust land at Cartmel and our Cumberland Sausage is made exclusively for the National Trust to meet the standards of our Soil Association Bronze Award. We source all we can from our surroundings and invest our profits back into caring for our magnificent environment.
Working with Small World Consulting, we have taken the unusual step of calculating the carbon footprint of our menu. We now print the CO2e (carbon equivalent- which takes into account all greenhouse gases) of each dish on our menu, giving you the option to choose a more planet – friendly meal.
" I have had lots of feedback from customers saying that there’s very little choice in Lake District pubs for vegans, so we decided to make sure that when people come to Sticklebarn they have plenty of choice."
As well as sustainability, we are passionate about providing a great choice of tasty food for everyone, regardless of whether they are vegan, vegetarian or have food intolerances. 50% of the new menu is suitable for vegans.
