A National Trust Sticklebarn Christmas

Looking for sanctuary far from Christmas crowds and the modern trappings of Christmas? Then come to Sticklebarn for an alternative Christmas in the countryside. We’re taking a more relaxed approach with long walks, open log fires, real ale and hearty food shared with friends and family. There will be some little festive touches though – the merits of mulled cider should never be underestimated and a slab of Christmas cake really is the best fuel to see you through to the top of that hill.

Winter walks in Langdale

Who doesn’t love a crisp winter walk with a pub to cosy up in afterwards? Wrap up warm, pull on your boots and tackle the Langdale Pikes or take a stroll around Blea Tarn. Langdale has so many opportunities to enjoy a long frosty day on the fells before retreating to Sticklebarn where you can settle down beside the fire and enjoy a warm welcome, local ales and delicious wholesome food.

Festive feasts and treats at Sticklebarn

Warm fires and tasty, planet friendly food designed to satisfy windswept walkers are the order of the day at Sticklebarn this winter. You’ll find a delicious combination of meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu, and not to forget the puddings – the rich Christmas cake filled with fruit and warmly spiced is not one to be missed. And what better way to discuss the day’s antics than over a glass of Sipsmith Sloe Gin Fizz, a Cumbrian real ale or sat, fireside, with hands wrapped round a warming mug of Mulled Westons Cider.
