Stoneywell as your muse

Stoneywell inspiring a painting

Stoneywell has been a long standing and worthy muse. This autumn, we want to get creative and you can too, by entering our first ever creativity competition.

Arts and Crafts is in the essence of Stoneywell, from the beginnings of its design by Ernest Gimson and the beautiful objects in the collection made by renowned crafts people. The love of making also remained throughout the generations and you too can continue this arts and crafts tradition.

Let the beauty, craftsmanship and nature that surrounds the cottage and garden be your muse. Whether you doodle a picture of the weather vane or sketch the cottage from the Rowan tree, scribble a short poem about the stunning view from the fort or compose a verse about footprints of the past that you are following in, everyone, whatever your skillset, can be inspired. You can be as creative as you like, how about knitting a scarf inspired by the colours you admire from the stunning red of the acer or making a papier-mâché pump house?

It may be that you have visited before, so you take inspiration from your memories, or you could book in another visit to be inspired all over again. So, whether you create a painting of the fairytale-esq pump house, a verse about the footprints of those who have run up to the fort before you or a ceramic piece inspired by the imprint of an oak leaf, Stoneywell is your creative oyster!
