Wild and whimsical; outdoor play at Weir’s Workshop
Explore Weir's Workshop and test your skills in agility, co-ordination and memory with our new outdoor play offer opening 8 April 2019.
8 April 2019 sees the opening of a brand new and exciting outdoor play offer set within an area of the castle grounds not previously open to the public. Taking inspiration from the architect who helped restore the castle in the early 1910s, William Weir, all the games are themed around building or agility, mimicking the skills of the Edwardian workmen who helped to restore the castle.
Compete with family or friends to win at giant jenga, test your balance on the wooden beams and stepping stones or try your hand at the game of pairs.
Take part in a bit of bird spotting while you are here, Weir’s Workshop is situated next to the rookery where over 200 birds come to roost each night. Bring along a pair of binoculars and tick off Number 44 in your 50 things booklet, ‘Go bird watching’.
The castle is open seven days a week until Sunday 3 November 2019, between the hours of 11am and 5pm. Come for a great day out or an afternoon in the sun and see if you can work your way around Weir’s Workshop.
