What's the best part of Volunteering at The Firs?

The best thing about Volunteering at The Firs is how close knit the team is! It’s great for someone like me who can’t be there frequently to know that people will recognise me when I do come.

What’s keeping me busy at the moment?

As a social media volunteer it’s always making sure everything is up to date on all channels. The Firs is one of the newest properties to the Trust so we’re still finding our feet on some channels.

What's my favourite part of The Firs?

My favourite part is the cottage garden, it’s such a photogenic place and it’s always changing with the seasons.

What's my favourite story about The Firs?

I’m still learning lots of stories but it always fascinates me that Elgar worked so closely with HMV, it looks a lot different since Elgar’s time so it’s funny to think they record some of the most famous classical music pieces!

What do I do when I’m not volunteering?

When I’m not volunteering, I’m currently studying for a Marketing degree at Birmingham City University, now I’ve finished for the summer I’ll be spending more time at The Firs.

What advice would I give anyone thinking about volunteering with the National Trust?
Age doesn’t matter! Whether your young or old volunteering here can be for everyone, it’s just a matter of finding the right role for you !
