Join in the 50 things fun at Tredegar House this summer and get stuck in ticking off some of the awesome nature activities on this ultimate children’s bucket list.

We’ve put together a whole programme of outdoor entertainment, keeping boredom at bay over the Summer Holidays. Join in with family-friendly events or plot your own adventure and see how many of the 50 things to do before you’re 11¾ you can complete before school rolls back around. 



No. 47 Cooking on a campfire

Join our nature rangers and learn how to start your own fire on this illuminating session. You’ll also be able to cook your own scrumptious smore on our very own campfire.

No. 26 Hunt for fossils and bones

Our nature rangers have hidden fossils and we need you to find them! Pick up your identification sheet and see how many fossils and bones you can find. 

Dates: 3, 8, 10 August

No. 4 Build a den

Get foraging for some twigs, branches and leaves to build your own natural hideaway among the trees in the gardens.

Dates: 15, 17, 22 August

No. 36 Build a home for a wild animal

Sow some seeds and make a mini meadow for the butterflies in your garden. In making your mini meadow you will be helping provide a home for some of Britain’s most endangered wildlife.

Dates: 24, 29, 31 August

No. 49 Find a geocache

There will be an extra challenge for those who come to all our 50 things activities in order to tick off No. 49 Find a geocache. Each time you come and complete an activity our nature rangers will give you a clue.

Follow the clues to discover the code and head back to the 50 things den to receive your sticker. Once you have collected all four stickers the location of the geocache will be revealed and you can collect your summer 50 things prize!

Things to know

  • All activities will run at the following times: 11am, 12pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm
  • Timed tickets are available on arrival on a first come, first served basis
  • Activities are inclusive of entry price
  • Activities are suitable for children 7 years +
