Places for picnics at Tyntesfield
Picnics are welcome anywhere on the Tyntesfield estate (apart from fields with livestock in them). Here are some of our favourite spots.
Lie on the lawn
The lawns of Tyntesfield's formal gardens are perfect for picnics - you can choose to sit in the sun, or shelter in the shade of one of the trees.
Our favourite spot is on the bank above the Croquet Lawn. There you can catch the sun and enjoy the views across the valley.
Down by the orchard
At the bottom of the estate, by the Kitchen Garden, Orangery and Orchard, is the Pavilion cafe, which is open, serving hot and cold snacks, sandwiches and drinks. Behind the cafe is a quiet lawn with picnic benches and space for blankets.
A place to park
Fancy a quick bite before you start exploring?
You can find picnic benches by the main visitor car park and some tables and chairs up the slope by the Piggery.
Room with a view
Enjoy one of the best views of the house and surrounding landscape on the grassy bank just behind the aviary. On a clear day you can see from here to Mendip Hills and Chew Magna.
