Start:

Kettlewell car park, grid ref: SD968723

1

Turn right out of the car park and cross the road bridge leading away from the village. Once over the bridge turn right and follow the stony track through the upper left-hand gate.

2

Leave the track at the footpath on your left, signposted to Arncliffe. Follow the path steeply uphill and through a nick in the crags, then continue, level at first, then uphill again.

3

When you reach a ladder stile, climb over and continue uphill through a low rocky terrace. You will soon arrive at another ladder stile; do not cross this but turn right, keeping the wall on your left. You are now on the Old Cote Moor summit ridge and the path gradually climbs as you head onwards, levelling off as you reach the ridge plateau.

4

Cross the ladder stile in the wall and continue along the ridge, again with the wall on your left.

5

Head away from the wall and walk to the summit trig point.

6

Continue past the trig point for approximately 330yd (300m) until you reach a stoneflagged bridleway. Turn right and follow this down the hill towards Buckden, which soon comes into view in the valley below, nestling beneath the bulk of Buckden Pike.
