Free entry to Michell's Engine House for Heritage Open Days
Visit Michell's Engine House, home to the last whim engine built in Cornwall and experience a sound installation designed by Kath Buckler.
- Booking not needed
- Free event
Come and hear the audio work of Kath Buckler. Her piece, an artistic interpretation of an engine in action, was written for bells, strings and pianos and composed using structural and engineering data from Michell's engine itself. The work aims to musically convey dimension, form and presence in an otherwise silent space. Each instrument in the piece is heard through separate speakers on different levels, representing different parts of the engine. There is no right or wrong place to listen, come and find your own favourite spot in Michell's Engine House.
