Join our knowledgeable Ranger on a guided walk around this peaceful island in the Blackwater Estuary. Learn more about the history of the island, the wildlife that call it home and how we care for their special habitats. Discover how we’ve been working on the island for more than 30 years and the innovative techniques we’ve been using to protect it from rising sea levels and strengthen saltmarsh habitats.

Meet in Promenade Park CM9 5UR at the start of the War Memorial avenue by the Boating Lake carpark. W3W airbrush.engraving.earful. Pay and display carpark (not NT) so charges apply £8 2-5 hours

What to bring and wear

Wear sensible footwear for approx. 3hr walk on uneven ground. Waterproofs or sunscreen depending on the weather. Bring refreshments- cafes available in the park.


Uneven ground, tidal causeway with slippery conditions, 3mile, 3hr walk. Restricted kissing gates. No toilets- facilities available in Promenade park.


Well behaved dogs on leads welcome.
