Miniature Painting at 'A Persian Paradise': Art and Tradition Unveiled
Journey into the enchanting world of Persian Miniature painting with artist Yasmin Hayat and curator Nicci Obholzer, and create your own masterpiece in the heart of 'A Persian Paradise'.
- Booking essential
In connection with 'A Persian Paradise' exhibition, we invite you to delve into the art of painting using traditional techniques, much like those found in historic Persian Miniature Manuscripts that have been revered through the ages.
This event promises a one-of-a-kind experience, commencing with an exclusive private tour of the exhibition, guided by its curator, Nicci Obholzer, before our standard opening hours.
Following this, you'll embark on a captivating four-hour beginner's journey into the world of Persian Miniature painting, led by artist Yasmin Hayat.
You will be navigated through the symbolism and techniques that define Persian Miniature painting—an art form that once graced the pages of royal folios and remains celebrated to this day. You will create your own small watercolour piece, mastering techniques such as burnishing, flooding, dry-brushing, and layering.
This event also includes a lunch and cream tea served in the Granary Restaurant.
About the artist: Yasmin Hayat has led workshops and masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the British Museum, the Watts Gallery, and the Al Burda Festival in Abu Dhabi. Yasmin has been honoured with the Kairos prize by His Majesty the King, then the Prince of Wales, alongside Professor Keith Critchlow, for her paintings that preserve and celebrate traditional art practices and techniques.
