The Royal Geographical Society, Earth Photo Partner, played a key role in the summiting of Mount Everest. Not well known is that early expeditions did a considerable amount of work in photographing and mapping the mountains and glaciers around Everest.
This work advanced our understanding of this once pristine environment and provides us today with a baseline which shows us how Everest and the Himalaya have changed over the past 100 years. Jamie will be describing early attempts on the mountain and the scientific insights these expeditions offered.
