Nightskyhunter - Intro to the Night Sky

Join us for an evening under the stars! Expert astronomer Martin McKenna (Nightskyhunter) will give a presentation on basic constellations, bright stars, planets on view, and a chance to learn how to use telescopes & binoculars for star-gazing.

  • Booking essential

The evening will begin with a presentation covering the constellations, stars and planets that are available to see in the night sky over the next month.

Learn about noctilucent clouds coming on summer nights, a recurrent nova which could flare up anytime soon for the first time in 80 years, and the upcoming aurora season with solar maximum beckoning. Martin will also discuss a potential naked eye comet appearing later this year too (which will be visible that night faintly in telescopes).

After the presentation we will then head out into the lower car-park (a known dark-sky spot) and learn how to use binoculars and telescopes to observe the night sky.

Please note this event is weather dependant - if we are unable to complete the outdoor segment of the evening, we will finish up after the presentation.
