Cantemus Choir NI is delighted to present the National Trust’s Christmas Concert in Mussenden Temple. Formed in 2011, Cantemus Choir NI exists to promote and help sustain the Anglican choral tradition. We do this by presenting choral services and concerts in parish churches and cathedrals. The choir rehearses in Macosquin Parish Church hall on the outskirts of Coleraine, however, our singers come from as far away as Londonderry, Lisburn, Ballymena and the greater Belfast area. Singers are drawn to the choir through a love of church music and our extensive repertoire offers an opportunity to sing fabulous compositions by past and present composers in wonderful church settings.
The choir launched its first CD in 2022. Entitled ‘I Was Glad’ this collection of choral classics has been selected to reflect the Anglican choral tradition, past and present whilst also drawing on Cantemus’s repertoire of fabulous seasonal pieces, often performed at the choir’s ever popular Christmas concerts. From ‘I Was Glad’ (Parry) to ‘Still the Night’ (Grindle) to ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’ (Faure) and ‘Magnificat in D’ (Dyson) the CD moves through to contemporary composers with the wonderfully evocative ‘The Ground’ (Gjeilo), ‘A Gaelic Blessing’ (Rutter), ‘Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day’ (Stopford) and much more.
The programme this year will include classic Christmas carols that you can all join in with as well as some solo pieces.

Please dress for cold weather, Mussenden Temple is a 300+year old stone building and can feel cold in winter.
- Accessibility
A shuttle will be provided from Lion's Gate to Mussenden Temple gate. There are a set of steep steps and uneven ground at the entrance of the Temple. Please contact us to discuss how we can help you if you need help accessing the temple.
