Experience for yourself the magical beauty of book artist Su Blackwell’s bespoke art installation created from copies of Rudyard Kipling’s original handwritten manuscript of The Jungle Book, commissioned especially for Bateman’s for 2023.
Peer inside miniature paper sculptures of The Jungle Book characters created by Bateman’s volunteers and marvel at the extraordinary ethereal quality of Su Blackwell’s intricate creation.
Su Blackwell’s artwork will be displayed in Carrie’s Office, which is a small room off the entrance hall in the house at Bateman’s. The room is only accessible by climbing a flight of five steps.

Carrie’s Office is situated on the ground floor of the house and is only accessible by walking up five steps. The room is not accessible for wheelchair users. A film of the artwork will be on display in the Kitchen which is on the ground floor of the house and is accessible for wheelchair users.
- Other
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Carrie’s Office is a small and dimly lit room. so visitor numbers will be limited. You may need to wait to access the room. If there is a queue, please visit the rest of the house and return. Other areas of the site are accessible (see access statement on our website).
