Reverse Christmas grotto at Chirk Castle

Enjoy the gift of giving when you meet Father Christmas by leaving a donation for Oswestry and Borders Foodbank

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event

Christmas is a time for giving and what better way to do this than by donating to Oswestry and Borders Foodbank. Pop in any time during our opening hours any day this December to drop off your items at our Rangers Hub near the ticket office.

Please check the foodbank's website for details of what they most need at the moment:

On weekends only from 2 to 17 December, Father Christmas himself will be joining us to help say thank you for your donation.

Normal admission charges apply if you wish to visit the castle and garden.

The basics

Meeting point

The Ranger's Hub near the Ticket Office at Home Farm

What to bring and wear

Dress according to the weather

The area outside Home Farm is cobbled and uneven. Registered assistance dogs welcome in the gardens and castle. Our visitor shuttlebus runs from the Ticket Office, up the steep hill to the castle. There is no wheelchair or step-free access to the castle interior, but there is a step-free route of the garden. Contact us to borrow and reserve a wheelchair or to hire our Tramper.
