Festival of Archaeology at Nunnington Hall

National Trust archaeologist, Mark Newman, is teaming up with community archaeology group, Roads to the Past, to explore the garden at Nunnington Hall.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

As part of Nunnington Hall's exciting new Iris Garden project, a team of archaeologists will be on-site to dig and record some sample pits in various locations in the garden.

We know that there were seventeenth century formal gardens at Nunnington Hall, but where were they and have they left any trace behind?

Visitors will be welcome to engage with the team about the dig and, as they are the same team who have supported Beningbrough Hall through their garden projects recently, they will bring some of their interesting finds and info from that site to show visitors, too.

Come along and see the trial excavations as they happen, and see what new pages of history are uncovered.
