Bluebell discovered 4 months early

Carpets of bluebells at White Park Bay

Our ranger team have come across a bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) in bloom at White Park Bay on Tuesday 15 January. Bluebells usually come into bloom in early May, meaning this little beauty is at least 4 month early. There was no sign of any others but lots of primroses in bloom also. Lets see if this little bluebell can withstand the harsh winter conditions we are told to be expecting. If you happen to come across any more we would love to hear from you. Please email northcoast@nationaltrust.org.uk.

We are going to keep an eye on this one so watch this space...
