Rain: Four Walks in English Weather
Award winning author, Melissa Harrison, will be visiting Wicken Fen on Wednesday 13 April from 3.30pm, signing copies of her latest novel, Rain: Four Walks in English Weather.
In her latest book, Rain, Melissa Harrison explores our relationship with the weather as she follows the course of four showers, in four seasons, across Wicken Fen, Shropshire, the Darent Valley and Dartmoor.
Whenever rain falls, our countryside changes. Fields, farms, hills & hedgerows appear altered, the wildlife behaves differently, and over time the terrain itself is transformed, observes Melissa.
Melissa Harrison writes a monthly Nature Notebook column in the Times. Her debut novel Clay (2013) won the Portsmouth First Fiction Award. Her second novel, At Hawthorn Time (2015) was book of the year in the Telegraph
Copies of Rain are available from the the Wicken Fen Visitor Centre, priced £12.99
