Weddings, filming and meetings, all you need to know about hiring Wightwick

Wightwick is open to the public all year round, but we're also a popular location for TV filming and are regularly asked about hosting weddings - so here's a guide to what we can do.

Weddings

We get lots of requests for weddings both inside the main house and outside. Whilst this is something we used to offer our licence has now lapsed so we can no longer hold civil ceremonies. The room which we used for ceremonies, the Great Parlour, is also full of our most valuable items and moving them around to make space for ceremonies was putting the collection at risk of damage.

We have also been asked about wedding receptions and drinks. As we're open to the public every afternoon these aren't possible, in addition our tea-room is not large enough to cater for a sit down reception, nor is our kitchen set up to deliver outside catering for a marquee.

Wedding photography is something which is of increasing interest. However as we offer public access every day we cannot close part of the garden or house to give couples uninterupted use.

Filming

All commercial filming and photography requests are handled by the National Trust's film team who have an excellent webpage to help you search for locations. Please contact them first to arrange all filming requirements, if you want to discuss the location with us and possible timings then email us. The house is closed on a Tuesday which is the best time for single day shoots.

If you are an amateur, school or university group then contact us directly by email, detailing what and when you would like to film and we will try and help.

Individual amateur photography is welcome across the site, we ask that you don't use flash or large tripods in the house. Due to the copyright of items on loan to us unfortunately we cannot allow photography in the Oak Bedroom.

Room hire

Situated in the Old Manor our meeting room is available for hire. It seats up to 16 boardroom and can accommodate 20 theatre style. It comes equipped with projector, WiFi and flipchart as well as lobby with kitchenette for tea and coffee. We can also arrange for the tea-room to supply lunch in the meeting room or in the tea-room itself. Contact us for more information.
