Meet the authors
Come and meet your favourite authors, characters and illustrators in our bookable author events, including the bestselling Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler, Philip Ardagh, Gill Lewis, Ed Vere’s Max and Steve Coles’ young James Bond.
We have a weekend programme packed full of your favourite children's authors and illustrators.
As well as the bookable author events, there will be a fantastic range of activities on-site at Wray Castle. Dress up as a Medieval Knight to celebrate the publication of ‘The Secret Diary of John Drawbridge’, craft and colour ladybirds with artist Alison Limentani, and build a Stickman with our National Trust rangers.
Lounge in our Scoop magazine chill-out room or have a stroll in the castle grounds beside lake Windermere. Picnics are welcome outside and snacks and refreshments will be available at teh castle on the day. There’s something for everyone, all ages welcome from toddlers to grannies and granddads!
The festival author events and play areas are suitable for families with children aged 3 - 11 3/4 (free admittance for Under 3s sitting on knees). Every child who comes to the festival will have the chance to meet the authors and illustrators personally and get their books signed.
Admittance to the Children’s Book Festival is £5 for a day ticket. Tickets for all author events are £5 (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket. Free admittance for Under 3s sitting on knees).
Don’t forget your World Book Day vouchers as our festival bookshop will stock all the World Book Day £1 books.
