Group visits for 2025

We are now taking bookings from groups who wish to visit Knole in 2025.

 

Visiting Knole in a group is a fantastic way to experience the 400 years of history on show. Since Knole is such a popular destination, group visits must be booked in advance. Our group offer is available for pre-booked groups travelling by coach or minibuses, visiting on weekdays during school term times. If your plans are different to this please call us on 01732 462100 to discuss other ways to visit.

 

 

Booking conditions

  • Group leader: Free admission
  • Coach drivers: Free admission and a refreshment voucher for the Brewhouse Café
  • Group rate available for pre-booked groups of 15 people or more
  • A single payment on the day is required to cover all non-member admission and tour tickets
  • Vouchers from travel companies are accepted prior by prior arrangement and are subject to credit checks
  • Group leaders are not permitted to give tours or talks to their group in any indoor spaces
  • Please allow 20-30 minutes from your arrival to your planned showroom admission or tour start time
  • If anyone in your group has mobility issues please request our detailed accessibility information.

Group tours

We offer four group tours at Knole. Both are subject to guides being available so must be booked in advance of your visit. Each tour takes around 50 minutes.

The tours do not go into the showrooms (except the Exclusive Highlights tour). Admission tickets for free-flow visits to the showrooms and Gatehouse Tower are available separately.

 

Past to Present tour

Explore Knole’s historic courtyards with one of our expert guides and hear about some of the notable characters who have helped create this magnificent treasure house. Learn about the remarkable collection and see how Knole has continued to adapt into the 21st century.

Access: This tour takes place outside and visitors stand or walk throughout.
Cost: £5 per person (payable on the day)
Tour size: Minimum of 15 and maximum of 30 people per tour.

 

Attic tour

Visit some of Knole’s long-forgotten attic spaces and learn about the exciting discoveries made by our experts. Hear about some of the previous inhabitants and the graffiti they left behind. See the witchmarks that were carved into the building to protect Knole’s royal visitors.

Access: This tour takes place in the attics which are accessed via steep staircases and have uneven floors.
Cost: £75 per tour (payable on booking and non-refundable) + standard admission
Tour size: Maximum of 10 people per tour.

 

Archaeology tour

Join an expert guide on a walk in Knole Park. Hear how archaeological projects have shaped our understanding of Knole and how people have used the park for thousands of years. See inside the excavated historic icehouse from the viewing platform.

Access: This 1.2 mile tour takes place outdoors whatever the weather. Visitors stand and walk throughout. Sensible footwear is essential due to the hilly, uneven and slippery terrain. The route is not wheelchair accessible.
Cost: £7.50 per person (payable on booking and non-refundable) + standard admission
Tour size: Maximum of 10 people per tour.

 

Exclusive Highlights tour 

Enjoy an exclusive tour of the showrooms before they are open to the public. On this early bird tour an expert guide will lead your group through the magnificent showrooms sharing the highlights of the collection.

Access: For this tour your group needs to arrive at Knole at 10am to be ready to meet their tour guide.
Cost: £15 per person (payable on booking and non-refundable) + standard admission
Tour size: Minimum of 10 and maximum of 20 people per tour.

 

 

 

 

 

Who is eligible for free entry? 

Registered tourist board guides (on production of a valid badge), coach drivers and tour leaders escorting groups of 15 or more. National Trust members also receive free entry, so it is at your discretion whether to refund the entrance fee to members if you have included it in your package – this is not refunded by the National Trust. 

Members must bring their current membership cards with them to avoid paying the full group rate. If any of your group would like to join the National Trust please direct them to our Membership page or call 0344 800 1895.

Free familiarisation visits for group leaders 

If you're planning a group visit you can request our free Travel Trade Pass and you and a friend or colleague will gain free entry to over 300 of our places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland for 12 months. There’s nothing quite like seeing or experiencing somewhere for yourself to help you plan a successful visit.
