You've been helping us to fund the restoration of the garden at this special place. We've now recently acquired additional land surrounding the garden that also needs our attention. Can you help support at Mount Stewart a little more?
We've achieved so much but there's more to do. Thanks to your generous support we've already transformed the Dodo Terrace and replanted the Italian Garden.
There are now an additional 900 acres of surrounding demesne land, including the Walled Garden and Rose Garden, that is in urgent need of repair.
• 900 acres of demesne land are in urgent need of work
• Reinstating heritage blooms in the Rose Garden
• Creating a plant nursery to grow rare soft fruits and saplings
• Conservation work to historic ornamental urns
We plan to provide a safe home for a planned collection of rare soft fruits and Northern Ireland’s oldest vine planted in 1769.
A nursery and garden will be a new home to young trees and shrubs before they’re given a permanent place in Mount Stewart’s extensive woodland gardens and demesne.
We want to reinstate the historic urns and pathways in the Walled Garden, rebuild the pergola and plant an array of scented historic garden varieties.
Lady Londonderry regularly made pot pourri from fragrant rose petals to fill Mount Stewart with floral scent. We’d like to recreate this idea to bring the outdoors back inside once more using heritage plants from the era.
As a charity we rely on the generosity of supporters to look after the historic places in our care. Supporters help to conserve historic homes, gardens and natural spaces.
This helps to ensure that future generations have places where they can be inspired by stories of the past, enjoy time to reflect and make memories to treasure.
Your donation will go towards this project and other vital conservation work at this special place. With your support we can continue to protect the irreplaceable for everyone, for ever.
