Tales of kings, mysterious mounds and buried treasure guarantee a full day out for the whole family at Sutton Hoo.

Try out a sword and shield for size and dress up like a warrior – or a king.  There's so much to see, do and discover at Sutton Hoo, home to one of the greatest archaelogical discoveries of all time.

Climb to the top of the viewing tower, look out over the Royal Burial Ground, and imagine what life was like centuries ago when an important Anglo-Saxon king was laid there to rest.

Follow a trail and discover more about the mysterious treasure buried deep underground and do some crafts or colouring in - you can even build your own model using LEGO bricks in the Discovery Room! There's so much fun to be had at Sutton Hoo - from fun indoor activities to big adventures in the great outdoors.

See what you can unearth in our sand tray archaeology sessions, make a pot jigsaw or even craft one of the characters from the world-famous dig.

Join our Anglo-Saxon storytellers under the storytelling tree, where they'll take you on a journey through time, make your own sword pyramid or hop, skip and jump your way across the adventure playground.

And with Time Team in action, there’s even more to see and do at Sutton Hoo this May half term.

Feeling peckish?

King’s River Café serves hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, hot meals, homemade scones and cakes. It is open from 10am-4pm.

Plan your visit

There are toilets and baby-changing facilities available in the shop/café building and in Tranmer House.

The courtyard, paths to Tranmer House and the route to the Royal Burial Ground are all pushchair and buggy-friendly.

The High Hall exhibition, Tranmer House, café, shop, bookshop and estate walks are open every day.
