There's always lots going on at Stourhead to help you spend time together as a family. Find out what activities you can join to make the most of your next visit – and discover all the facilities available for families.

Become a climate superhero

Head over to the Granary in the Stableyard and learn how to become a climate superhero. Children and adults alike can learn about climate adaptation and what the National Trust and Stourhead are doing to adapt to the climate. Panels filled with climate insights line the walls, as well as a climate themed children's book corner and toy shelf.

Summer of play

Join us throughout the summer holidays for a festival of fun in the play meadow, with games, crafts, music and workshops.

Divided into distinct and interesting activity zones, this wide outdoor space has something for everyone and for budding artists, the craft tent always has something to do, with volunteers on hand to lead you through an exciting new craft at weekly sessions. Construct impressive structures from wooden blocks or build a giant marble run.

The picnic hub will be a shady area with lawn games and tables where you can enjoy a well-earned rest. And if, after all that, you’ve still got some energy, enjoy climbing obstacles or why not explore the maze to find the hidden camp and scale the mighty straw bale fort?

Adventures inside Stourhead House

A brand-new children’s spotter trail is now available from the Entrance Hall of the house. Grab a spotter trail flip book from a member of the friendly house team as you enter and head off on an adventure through the showrooms. Using the clues, can you spot the special items around the house?

Children’s activity stations can also be found throughout the house. Perhaps you’ll plan your own grand tour around the world, take a big sniff of the smelling tins, play the Pesky Pests card game, or dress up in servants’ clothes. Whichever you choose, there’s plenty of exploration and playing to be done while learning about the history of Stourhead.

Explorer map

Fancy an adventure? Pick up your Explorer Map at Visitor Reception and enjoy 16 activities and games to help you get closer to nature and discover Stourhead. The Explorer Map includes plenty of ideas to make the most of your visit and is fun for all the family.

Natural play area

Families are able to enjoy the natural play area and enjoy a swing, clamber on the climbing ropes, and enjoy all the fun on offer.

Buggy friendly paths around the garden.
Balls, bikes, frisbees, skateboards and scooters aren't allowed in the garden, so please leave these at home.
