Lorna Doone Valley short river walk

A tranquil stroll along Badgworthy Water through the picturesque Lorna Doone Valley from the National Trust carpark at Lorna Doone.

Start point

Lorna Doone Farm, grid ref: SS791478.

Step 1

From the car park walk behind the shop and up the road passing the old stable block to your left and barn on the right. Ignoring the toll gate which leads onto a permissive path. Continue up the road until it bends to the right.

Step 2

Go through the gate ahead and take the bridleway marked with a blue arrow. Follow the bridleway as it bends left over a small ford.

Step 3

Continue along the bridleway passing through the two gates until you reach an open area with a footbridge to the Cloud Farm campsite.

Step 4

Continue along the bridleway following the signs for Badgworthry Water until you reach the memorial to R.D.Blackmore and the edge of the ancient woodland.

Step 5

From the memorial return to the carpark following the way you came.
