This Father’s Day, it’s time to treat dad to a day out he will really love, be that a family walk in the countryside, enjoying a hearty feast or re-living his childhood by creating a den with the kids.

Whether he enjoys fine food and real ales, relaxing to live music, or simply getting closer to nature, we've got everything you need to help dad and the rest of the family have a great day out.

    Brecon Beacons, Powys

    Father's Day in the forest, 15 June, 10am – 4pm
    If you’re looking for a place where dad can get away from it all, why not visit the Brecon Beacons? Join our rangers for a fun-filled Father's Day in the woods. You'll have the chance to build a den, take part in a scavenger hunt, cook over a camp fire, sit on a tractor and even dress up as a forester.

    Dunstable Downs, Bedfordshire

    Chilli Festival, 14 June, 11am-5pm
    Discover all things chilli at the Dunstable Downs Chilli Festival. From hot sauces and oils to chilli cheese, pickles and plants, there are lots of tasty treats no matter how spicy you like things. If you need to cool down you can explore Dunstable Downs within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the highest point in Bedfordshire. The wind-swept ridge provides ideal conditions for a variety of air sports, especially kite flying, and it’s the perfect spot for a picnic.

    Lyme Park, Cheshire

    Beer, bulbs and local food, 14-15 June, 11am-4pm
    On the edge of the Peak District, nestling within sweeping moorland, sits the beautiful estate of Lyme Park. If dad loves potting around the garden and is partial to the odd beer or two then Lyme Park is the perfect place to visit this Father’s Day. Get your hands on some brilliant bargains; thousands of bulbs that flowered in the garden at Lyme will be on sale as well as some tasty local beer and food. After lunch, let dad sit back and relax to the silver band playing in the gardens.

    After exploring the beautifully furnished rooms and impressive tapestries, escape to the park and feel miles away from anywhere. Take a family walk across the magnificent moorland, fly a kite or wonder at The Cage – a remarkable, medieval hunting lodge set high up on the moor. Before you leave, head over to Crow Wood playscape where you’ll find a land of giant treehouses and slides, timber walkways and tree trunks to climb.

    Castle Ward, County Down

    Father’s Day sea safari, 15 June, from 12.30pm
    Treat dad to an extra special afternoon with this unique gift. See stunning scenery and wildlife as you explore the beautiful waters of Strangford Lough aboard the twelve seated inflatable boat. Highlights will include Angus Rock Lighthouse, SeaGen (the first electricity generating tidal turbine in Europe), and you may even spot seals and possibly even a pod of porpoise.

    Saltram, Devon

    Spitfires and Sweethearts, 14-15 June, 10am - 4pm
    Swing your way to Saltram and get into the retro spirit and salute the bygone days with a 1940s Road Show. See Saltram transformed as the military move in and take over the Ha Ha field with vintage vehicles. Treat dad this Father's Day weekend and fire up the spitfire, chat to re-enactors and enthusiasts about their military vehicles and weapons or join the swinging singers in the mess tent for a drink and a boogie.

    Calke Abbey, Derbyshire

    Father's Day, 15 June, 11am – 4pm
    Treat dad to a day out and browse the car rally with local Jaguar enthusiasts clubs. Make something special at Squirt's Stable or tuck into tasty treats in the restaurant with dad. If that’s not enough, explore the tranquil park that plays host to some of the oldest trees in Europe and let the kids discover some local wildlife.

    East Riddlesden Hall, West Yorkshire

    Father's Day terrific tile making, 14-15 June, 10.30am – 4pm
    Treat dad to a special day out and create a personalised gift just for him. Drop into the craft room at East Riddlesden Hall and design a ceramic coaster just for dad. Afterwards you can explore the local wildlife together on the Riverside Walk. After a nice stroll, why not pop into the cosy tearoom and treat dad to a delicious slice of cake.

    Winkworth Arboretum, Surrey

    Father's Day woodland crafts, 15 June, 11am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm
    Visit Winkworth Arboretum this Father’s Day and learn some traditional woodcraft skills for Dads and their kids. There’s a lot on offer with den building, fire lighting, wood carving and fun in the woods for all ages. Lush greens and leafy groves provide the perfect backdrop for family adventures and picnics.
